Using our PMBIA training, we have created a Level 1 Course for beginner riders and a Level 2 Course for Intermediate riders. Each Course has 4 Classes that are 2 hours long. Our current classes have a maximum group number of 6 and are geared towards adults & teens 14+ to keep our groups cohesive.
You have the option to book all 4 Classes with the Complete Course or drop in where you would like based on what you want to focus on! For newer riders we suggest to start at the beginning to have a good foundation to add on each new skill.
Please be sure to sign our 2025 Waiver Form for any lessons you register for!
New to riding? No problem. We start right at square one with you! In the first class of our program, we learn the importance of proper body positioning and stance to give you the best balance. As well we go over braking and shifting to get you started in the right direction.
learn neutral and ready position and when to use each
use our range of motion to keep our center of gravity over our bike
learn a seated climb and how to use it effectively
practicing with both front and rear brakes using each separately and together
learn to shift through your gears efficiently
Using what we learned from the first class we can start to add on skills like front and rear wheel lifts to get up and over obstacles like roots and rocks. Then taking it to the trails we learn to continuously scan what we're riding to navigate the terrain at a fast pace.
learn to execute a front and rear wheel lift
learn about different terrain types and what gives you the best traction
learn to use our "now" and "next" field of view on the trail
using all information taken in from the trail to select the best lines
Starting with the basics of a good line selection, we learn to maneuver through our turn with confidence. We will go over how to look through a corner as well as the skills needed to stick the bike to the ground for the most traction and control while descending.
identifying the apex of the corner for your line selection
learn bike angulation and when to use it
learn tight, low speed flat cornering technique
tying together multiple corners at a higher speed
learn cornering while descending and corners with berms
Progress to riding more challenging terrain! First we will start with learning the proper body positioning and action needed to preform a roll down. Then we work on repetitive roll downs to tie together more than one at a time to descend stepped roots and rock.
learn the body position and motion to perform a roll down
learn to identify a roll down feature on a trail and set up for it
tying together multiple roll downs on a trail
tie together skills from each lesson on trail with an evaluation and feedback
To ride efficiently means you can ride longer and go farther before tiring out. We will learn how to keep a good cadence to keep you going. Then learning to shift effectively and at a higher rate while climbing and descending which can make a big difference in your overall riding.
Learn to maintain momentum through corners using lean angle and bike/body separation. We will practice this on both flat and bermed corners along with learning how to choose the best line. Connecting the trail with corners will give you a smoother and faster ride.
Learn to navigate and ride our nearby mountain trail system in Cypress Hills with every type of terrain. We'll combine the principles of our Level 1 and Level 2 Courses in a Saturday ride with skill level appropriate trails selected.
If you have some specific things you would like to work on, or just want some one on one time, check our availability calendar to book your own private lesson. If you have some friends you would like to ride with we also book group lessons!
